Currently licensed or registered as a nurse in the State of Ohio and in good standing with the Ohio Board of Nursing.
2.
Has a genuine interest in nursing and rehabilitation of the sick and disabled preferably with training and/or experience in gerontologic, rehabilitative or psychiatric nursing.
3.
General knowledge of long-term state and federal regulations.
4.
General knowledge of state survey process.
5.
Has ability to work and communicate congenially with others.
6.
Possess alertness and skill to identify resident status problems and changes and act on them appropriately.
7.
Ability to assist in other areas of the nursing department as needed.

? Responsible for the overall coordination and provision of resident care, services and activities on assigned unit(s) within generally established standards of practice over all shifts and or assigned shift.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1.
Monitor resident care on all shift(s) or assigned shift to meet standards of practice and state and federal guidelines.
2.
Plan, organize and direct activities of charge/unit nurses, including scheduling and assignment of duties and responsibilities.
3.
Initiate and implement disciplinary action regarding charge/unit nurses.
4.
Receive, investigate and resolve employee questions, suggestions or complaints according to facility open door policy and the employee grievance procedure.
5.
Affirm compliance by shift charge/unit nurses with all facility administrative, nursing service and personnel policies and procedures.
6.
Act in an advisory capacity to all levels of nursing staff (charge/unit nurses) in carrying out their responsibilities as supervisors, providing instruction, guidance and support.
7.
Supervise unit nursing department personnel compliance with established Resident Care Policies and Procedures in the delivery of resident care.
Conduct regular rounds to evaluate the plan and delivery of care.
8.
Coordinate and oversee shift nursing participation in rehabilitative, restorative and supportive programs, including coordination of nursing with therapy departments and other disciplines.
9.
Coordinate and oversee unit compliance with comprehensive assessment requirements - MDS, Triggers and RAPS.
10.
Maintain an excellent working relationship with Medical Director, attending and consulting physicians, ancillary and service departments, and other contracted providers (i.
e.
, Dentist, Podiatrist, Pharmacy).
11.
Direct monthly unit nursing department meetings.
12.
Assist in coordinating the orientation and training of new nursing personnel with Staff Development Department, utilizing exemplar staff as preceptors, and focusing on employees' identified strengths and weaknesses.
13.
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement Program as required.
Promote enthusiastic participation and support of CQI by unit personnel.
14.
Participate in staff development and continuing education programs.
Encourage and supervise unit nursing personnel's similar participation.
15.
Assist the Director of Nursing in any other assigned duties or responsibilities.
Maintain regular communications and meet with the Director of Nursing on a regular basis.
16.
Maintain regular communications and cooperative efforts with other Unit Managers/Supervisors.
17.
Serve in the capacity of Charge/Floor Nurse.
18.
Assist in staff scheduling and coverage, as requested.
19.
Fulfill the Director of Nursing duties in her absence, as directed by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
20.
Follow department and facility policies and procedures.
21.
All other duties as assigned by the DON or his/her designee.
